After 12 years of living, studying, and applying Human Design in my own life and with my clients, I am officially certified as a Human Design coach. And I couldn't be more excited to share what that means - and what Human Design can do for you.

Whether you've heard of Human Design before or this is your very first introduction, this post will walk you through exactly what it is, how to access your free chart, and why I believe it is one of the most powerful tools available to women on a health and wellness journey.

What is Human Design?

Human Design is a personalized system that combines several ancient and modern frameworks - astrology, the Chinese I Ching, the Kabbalah, the Hindu Chakra system, and quantum physics - into a single, deeply individual chart. Unlike a personality test, it doesn't put you in a box or tell you exactly who you should be. Instead, it provides a unique blueprint based on your birth data (date, time, and place of birth) that reveals:

  • How your energy flows naturally — where you absorb energy from others and where you're consistently strong

  • How you're designed to make decisions — your inner authority, which is specific to you

  • Where your consistent strengths and superpowers live

  • Where you're more open and impressionable — and where outside conditioning tends to sneak in

I like to think of it as an uncovering — a reminder of who you already are at your core.

How I Found Human Design

I first discovered Human Design in 2014 during one of the most pivotal chapters of my life. I had finally sought help for years of anxiety and was learning to meditate for the first time. My life coach at the time was also studying Human Design, and what he shared with me was genuinely life-changing.

Through my chart, I learned I am a Manifestor - an energy type designed to initiate and lead. But I also learned something humbling: manifestors have a tendency to move fast, push forward, and forget to bring the people around them along for the ride. Learning to inform before I initiate transformed my relationships and my confidence in ways I hadn't expected.

I also came to understand my inner authority - that I process decisions best by talking them through out loud, and that a full-body yes or no becomes clear when I hear myself speak. That single insight has saved me from more impulsive decisions than I can count.

What Your Chart Can Tell You About Your Health

One of the things I love most about Human Design is how it connects to your physical wellbeing. Every defined and undefined center in your chart has implications for how you sleep, how you handle stress, and how your immune system functions.

Here are three centers I explore with every client:

The Sacral Center — governs how you're designed to sleep and recharge. An undefined sacral (like mine) means you absorb the energy of those around you throughout the day and need time to decompress before bed — ideally alone, with something calming like meditation, breathwork, or a good book.

The Root Center — a pressure center connected to how you handle stress and overwhelm. An undefined root center can feel like a constant internal voice saying when I finish this, then I can rest. Learning to recognize that pressure — and consciously step away from it — has been one of the most important parts of my own healing.

The Spleen Center — connected to your immune system and intuition. An undefined spleen means you have a sensitive, highly attuned awareness of what's going on around you and inside your body. Those intuitive nudges — like not wanting to eat something, or feeling that a situation isn't right — are worth listening to. The downside is a tendency to hold on too long to things that no longer serve us.

Tropical vs. True Sidereal Astrology: What's the Difference?

As part of my certification with Analena Fuchs, I also learned Human Design through the lens of true sidereal astrology — and it opened up a whole new layer of self-understanding.

Most of us are familiar with tropical (Western) astrology, where the zodiac signs shift every 30 degrees and are anchored to the seasons. True sidereal astrology, by contrast, is based on where the constellations actually appear in the sky today - accounting for the slow shift in the Earth's axis over thousands of years.

The result? Your sun sign may be different. In tropical astrology, I'm a Cancer. In true sidereal, I'm a Gemini. And honestly? Both resonate. I don't think of them as competing - I think of them like a buffet. Take what resonates, leave what doesn't, and let both charts paint a fuller picture of who you are.

How I Use Human Design with My Clients

Human Design is built into the heart of my Thrive After 40 program. Every client receives three dedicated sessions focused on their chart, where we explore:

  • Their energy type and what it means for their daily wellness

  • Their decision-making authority and how to use it in real life

  • Their defined and undefined centers, and what each reveals about their health patterns

  • Their superpowers - the consistent gifts they can always rely on

  • Where they may be carrying conditioning that isn't theirs to carry

The goal isn't to tell you anything you don't already know. It's to help you remember - and to give you a compassionate, clear language for understanding how you're uniquely wired.
